In my research and readings on personal branding I have come to realize that having one and making it better is the key to career growth. What your brand is and what it demonstrates is what your leadership will only ever see. Your leader is the key holder to your success in any career, so their perception of you needs to be what you want it to be. If you want them to see you as a doer than you have to do, if you want them to see you as a closer than you have to close.......
If you don't form your brand to exactly what you want out of yourself than it is your fault. Leaders don't take excuses and frankly they shouldn't. To be better than your competition and gain whatever it is you want from your career you have to constantly be striving for that.
To do this you have to use the tools at your disposal. Form your social media around your brand do not let the social media tools form you. Before posting anything ask yourself, does this project what I want people to think about me and my brand. This is where I need work, I am a passionate person so sometimes I speak or post without question. This comes back to bite me sometimes and I have to work twice as hard to undo what I have done.
To do this I need to reevaluate how I use social media. I need to use Facebook more wisely and only project positive characteristics in my personal life. This may take removal of friends that really only comment negative things on my wall, or it may take starting over to make sure the past is the past. I also need to increase my usage of LinkedIn. I need to connect with networks that I want to be associated with and make sure my post are spot on with what I want my followers to see about me.
By limiting my post and making them more specific to what I want from my brand, I can ensure that from now on my social media content is nothing but success. Thank you all for reading and I hope that you know I may be using this blog again to enhance my social media presence.
